Botulinum Toxin Injections (BOTOX)

This is used to treat wrinkles and lines caused by facial muscle movements. Common wrinkles that can be treated with botox include:

Crows feet (next to the eyes)

Horizontal forehead lines

Frown lines (between the eyebrows)

Bunny lines on the sides of the nose

Puckering of the chin.

A fine needle is used to introduce the toxin into the muscles causing these lines and the treatment lasts up to 6 months. The treatment can be performed with or without a topical anaesthetic cream.

Botox is also used to create an improved facial contour especially in those individuals with large masseter muscles causing a square jaw. These patients often grind their teeth during their sleep resulting in an aching jaw upon wakening. The treatment eradicates these symptoms and can last up to 8 months.

Botox injections are also administered in the clinic to eradicate excessive sweating in the armpits. This can be cosmetically embarrassing to individuals and the effect of the treatment can last up to 8 months. The clinic uses both Botox® by Allergan and Dyport® by Ipsen.
